View Full Version : Fate - Dang, even the internet can be a small place

I've been considering Perfect World (thus known as PWO by reference to a friend I know) for quite a while know, but been waiting for more of an english-orientated opportunity. However, due to the recession of other games, I've gone with the "oh, hell" policy. As a result, I'm in the process of setting up things for me to play this as a Demo of the eventual official english version.

A bit of background, I've messed around in a few different games, lately on Tales of Pirates and Lunia, both being grinding games with a few good points, but several limitations. But for a time before that I known this one girl (apperently a RO-Fan) who told me about this game. Unfortunatly, I've lost complete track of her, but I'm still inspired to play this game she invited me too, seems kinda cool.

Thus we come to the meaning of the above line officially called the "subject line", and why such was chosen. This is quite simple. The same previously mentioned girl was one full of stories (to say the least), many about things she's done online (though she seemed quite reluctant to discuss her offline life in such an environment as open-mindedly). I think half of the reason for such discussions were to convince me to play with her, but that's another matter. In general, due to me keeping my distance with many of the things she did, which by now am regretting, often the only interaction with her would be something technical, such as technical assistance. I do recall a time she was asking about websites and such, in regards to the late stages in one of the games she played, and the stories relating. Now, I could rant on and on about little details that I've put together to find this out, but then no one would read it. >.x

And so finally, getting to the point, after searching the net for a half-decent fan site for PWO (using Wikipedia in the end), I find this place, and start looking around (mostly for the instructions on the english patch, which I found, so don't worry). During this search, I find something very familiar with a selected administrator of these very forums. Admin Tor, IGN Tekken, who appears to have came from a game known as "Flyff", after a bit of careful analysis, I do believe that you know the same girl I've previously mentioned. Now, I could be mistake, or you could have forgotten, but otherwise, as per how the classical internet 'face' works: O.o!

Even if that isn't correct, I still look forward to seeing everyone in game at PWO and hope this game is as fun as it has been made to sound. I also am thankful for anyone who has read this post in entirety, as I am in a ranting mood right now. If anyone has any comments/questions/suggestions/queries/welcomes to add, please feel free to use the space that follows (aka, append a reply).

Nice, a fellow Canadian. There goes my concerns that the game might be blocking out Canadian IPs while leaving many others (such as U.S.A. IPs) available.

Nice intro :D Welcome to PerFect World

That girl...hmmm. :?: Unless she played on Mushpoie then I probably don't know her. Definately gotta agree though, I want to see some people in game. Lvling alone is just too boring. Maybe we'll see a mass migration of flyff users from this game...lol.

Thanks for the welcomes.

>.x I'm starting to feel like I stand out solo here, everyone knows each other. When it comes to forums, my last true home was the various incarnations of Fated Circle Online, a spriting /game development community which I was co-administrator for. Since then though, almost everyone has moved on to something else, so I stand in doubt that I can bring others to come.

Ah well, if anyone is actually playing this "Demo", it might be good to have someone to hold conversations with in game. Maybe even get to know some of you people? O.o

Well, Tor is the creator of this website, and also manages Flyffworld. We've all migrated here from the either extreme boredom of Flyff or from the destruction V9 has brung.

But the Flyffworld community is a great, if not the best, group of forum-goers on the internet. I can safely say if I were to visit xxx state/country that member xxx from Flyffworld was in that I knew, he'd probably house me for my stay.

So, I really do hope for a mass-migration of Flyffworlders to PWO. Most are looking for a new game for their spare time. I plan on trying out the Malay-English version as soon as I get in touch with Tor, to see if there are servers and what server he might be on.

But seriously, I can't stress enough how amazing the Flyffworld community has been. Most are always helpful, and just all around damned awesome people. It was truely a blessing to have found the Flyffworld forum.

To answer the one question, there is apparently 2 servers. But it brings up a question in return, if all of your populace is found with boredom at the loss of your own game, why aren't you all started yet? As per another post I made, people starting now means being more experienced when the normal versions come out. I practically registered on these forums and in game at the same time, downloaded the whole thing in 30 minutes, and have been actively jumping roofs since.

Leaving an old game, which you spent time (and some cases money), on your character is hard. Leaving your guild is hard. Leaving something is just hard in general. Trying new things for most people is a hesitant decision. When I first "left" Flyff, it was because off accusations made against me for hacking a very close friend of mine. It stung that the populace, and most of my friends, blamed me for it. While said friend never blamed me herself, it was just an eye-opener for me.

And people have lives to attend. Most online game players are middle-high schoolers. They have school, some have jobs, and if not school, have families to take care of. Its becoming the busy season with winter around the corner.

But Flyff is dieing. Most will want a new game to play. Tor and a few others have voiced their opinion on Flyff.

*sigh* My Ranger, IAmCeles, was the second-best Ranger back in the day, just behind Tor, PvP-wise. I still sorely miss a lot of the people I played with. But life (virtual and real) go on.

O.o Wait, now that sounds familiar too.

>.x First though, I apologies for being presumptuous, didn't mean to offend. Having recently seen everything I've been doing online fade to oblivion left me more on the other side of the scale, yet I still understand still that even if the software goes to crap, when it comes to games like this what really counts is the society (and the money >.>). I was assuming that things were at the stage that everyone had already abandoned the past and yet were still just doing nothing.

I am registered at a very advanced school (one you go to after post secondary) which is year round, so for me, school hasn't even ended yet, even with the passing of summer. But you only need 30 minutes spare time a day to get started, and I know people have that time. >.x However, you re-summarize the difference in your third paragraph. "[game] is dieing", which is unlike "[game] is dead." As such, you guys need time to tie up loose ends. Just let me know when you're successful, you won't believe how alone you can feel in a game where you can't talk to anyone. (Some days, I feel like I'm the stereotypical BR invading the english server, with my lack of using the local language. To avoid looking completely alien, I've been avoiding the chat box. >.x)

To cause of this topic's other discussion, we re-read your last paragraph, and re-read my first. I do recall something of that line in discussions with the previously mentioned girl. (See Post #1 of this topic) I should probably look into such details soon. >.x

I wasn't mad, or anything of the sort.

As for Flyff, its dead to some people, its dieing to others. Its just a matter of time though before it does die completely, in my point of view.

And its really hard to find a girl if you don't know their name >_>

O.o It does? Don't expect me to turn poetic, I suck at poems.

Just out of interest though, Krescen, did you draw those pictures in your avatar/signature? They're really nice ^^

And I'm sure you'll make good friends. Just because some of us are from FlyffWorld, doesn't mean you should feel Alien. This is a new forum, a new beginning, a good place to meet new friends. And even though we all do come from FlyffWorld, we still have much to learn about each other. Kaiko and me were actually in the same guild in Flyff, except I've barely had the chance to even chat with Kaiko I think. Don't worry, we're all new here ^^

I recently made an art portfolio topic about it (mostly due to changing the signature). They are edits, changing a few style details and restructuring the entire color layout (some of the edits I do start mono-color and end up full-colored). Not as good as doing the actual shapes and often shades that come with the original, but I know my limits. Even simple projects like these take a few hours to do a complete edit to the standards I'm expecting. Hopefully you still think my effort in the work is worth the same praise. >.x I only wish I could do the first half as well as this last half. If anyone has something pre-shaded which you want color-rendered, I can work on it when I get time.

Come to a new game, you always stand out, it's expected, and I'm not concerned. I know it's a minor bind which heals with the passage of time. The alienation in game is much worse anyways, and when it comes to that, yes, no one here isn't new.

Speaking of people you know, as a final attempt to remedy the issue, I found one previous image from the girl mentioned earlier who told stories of everyone. The image isn't of her, it is only an avatar she made around November, which was near the beginning of her Flyff Phase. She was always quite proud of the art she got together, either that or wanting second opinions, sometimes I could never really tell. As per the first part of this post, I know a few things about working with Art, so she always wanted to know what I know, do what I did, then show me up. >.x Anyways, it was a picture of Norma from Tales of Legendia, with the words "Amber" on it. It might mean something, and could be a better clue. >.x If it still means nothing, I doubt I can find a better clue. Hopefully she used "Amber" as a character name or anything else meaningful (like I keep saying she should), but I've known her to throw random nonsense on images. I don't think I asked at the time either, I think I was busy with other things so just took the time to compliment her work without considering its meaning. Regretting something from almost a year ago like this doesn't seem worth it. Anyways, -_- if this really doesn't mean anything to anyone I'm just going to forget about it. I'm doubting anything could further cause any results, and when you think about it, being known as 'someone who knew such and such' doesn't mean a lot. Might as well put more effort writing my own story then trying to discuss someone else's story.

Edit: According to Tor, everyone knows her as "Shion". That leaves this issue completed and confirmed, so we can all move on.

One of the more interesting intros I've read. I missed this one. I'm backtracking a little but not all these threads. Welcome again as has been done several times. :geek:

Oh btw many Flyffers quit the game but still visit the fan forum Flyff World quite regularly. I guess you can say it's a bit like Brokeback Mountain, 'They don't know how to quit us'.

Anyways, I hope that this site brings an influx of ppl especially some of my forum chums from FW. I know my close friend has already joined here so it's happiness.

O.o My topic was revived.

<.< If you haven't caught on yet, I'm often tending to write reasonably lengthy posts. >.x Content has to come from somewhere. >.>

Today will be a fresh start for many people. Lets see how things go.

I know all about lengthy post I'm usually the lengthy poster on my forum. That's why I'm over the Debates section. I'm a big blabber mouth with quality content to offer sometimes. :geek:

Haven't started playing this game yet due to my game raids on WoW and writing project, so I can't go into details yet on the game content on here. Hopefully I can soon.

You still haven't done anything at that Leadership/Maturity Test. >.>

I know it's an extreme topic, but a good debater should be able to debate anything. >.x

SoraMio

I read it but not interested. It's not an extreme topic I would say but unique in that intersexual stuff could be addressed. Sometimes I like to wait for some element to interest me.

If you are concerned because it seems that no one has taken it seriously or been interested enough to post then do what I sometimes do on debate topics that seem slow to start. Just post your analysis which might broaden the topic and bring in more posters. Sometimes I find people may not be so clear on what the issues are but with a little more prodding it becomes clearer. :geek:

But it could just be that people are taking their time getting their story together. It is an involved topic. Might see discussion happening in a day or two. Especially with trying to figure the bonus part. That sounds pretty clever. :geek:
