I asked around, and a lot of people said, they have a very high int build. But they can't tank for crap. If they aren't fooding, they are like dead for sure. But yea, they kill hella fast. Faster than my warrior by tons. From lvl 1-20 alteast...that's what I noticed.

Yeah, with a high int build you take massive hits but you get to kill the monster much faster. So in the end, you'll have to heal after every monster almost. But you kill very fast.

Fire elemental magic is godly when it comes to mass-destruction. Earth elemental spells are better for independent attacks and eventually pvp, and water elemental attacks suck minus the level 59 attack which is the mage's best, but beyond that, fire elemental tears apart monsters by level 30.

Fire Array is a giant circle of death which does 1k damage per few seconds to all monsters in the circle so long as you keep the spell going. Have Moist + Frost Armor going and have a Priest heal-spamming you, and you will tear apart a large number of monsters. Cast alone, it still does more damage then the typical spell. Cast on a Metal monster, and you only have seconds to wait. Remember to charge your VP so that you have a FP.

The Fire Pushback skill is going to take high damage and add a policy of defense, prevent monsters from going into melee range. It's reasonably fast as well, but I haven't tested it myself. It does damage to all monsters in a line as well.

The Fire Charge skill, Sacrifice, seems to calculate to insane death. Up to 60% of your current hp is removed, and this value is eventually multiplied by 4 times, plus weapon magic damage and base fire damage. So long as you have a lot of Con and a Werebeast has buffed your max hp, something is going to die.

The last fire spell however seems to be nearly completely useless. >.> Water and Earth versions are far better.

I'm wondering whats a good weapon to usage

usually quest weapons are best IMO. They can last for a long while.
I remember my level 25 tamer still used a level 11 quest weapon.
Then kres convinced be to buy a new one but I only saw little change.

Crafted weapons are actually usually stronger then Quest weapons, but they take more effort to get. Crafting is still going to be vital for good performance.

till level 40

Static Ratios are horrible for making way-mark goals. Even easier is just to have your equipment guide you.

I want a good, fast damaging mage. Mostly int?

Konata

mostly int, yes. but you also get some +matk soul stones for additional magic damage.

also, 3-star equips with good additional stats are good. as long as they have high matk, it should make a difference.

and if you want stronger damage, go for fire-earth skills. some of the best nukes are earth spells they say, although casting time is slow and you need -casting time equips... <_<

Hm while lurking on the officials, I managed to scrounge this build.

Every 2 levels add 7 int, 2 con, and 1 str.

I think this is good, however kill the 1 str for each level and just add str when you need it, and put the rest in int.

However, what kind of armour should I be using?

Konata

go for the robes. fa shihs(mages) are not really expected to have light/heavy armor, unless of course your build is a crit build. better to go for the robes.

also, if interested, a certain player from pw-ph has made a critical fa shih build. (credits to lexzaraki of the pw-phboards) ^_^

(note: skill names may vary since we're playing in different versions)

full int doesnt suck at all. i play full int and honestly i solo at everything except bosses and minibosses.

u need hp hiero though. mp heiro u can make do without until higher lvls.

as for fast lvlling. do dq in-between normal quests. dq closer to your lvl = semi grinding.

dq 21 : ~12.4k exp
dq 31 : ~24.5k exp
dq 41 : ~36k exp
dq 51 : ~49k exp
*exp might not be right but it is around there.

the exp u get is around there for dq. and so far i find dq 21,41 and 51 really easy to complete as drops are good. only dq 31 u need to waste money on impact purses.

if you are over lvl 40, go do horse races. that's a good side fun thing to do and u still get some exp and sp.

To lvl quick as mage you dont really need 3 star stuff or full int. But you need a good weap and an item mall flying sword for quicker grinding. An mp-hiero is recomended to. And you need some con if you´re gonna solo and dont wanna pot like crazy.

What you have to get is several one element pieces of armor. In other words the armours that have enhanced resist for one specifik element. Try to get pieces with enhanced metal, fire and wood resist for grinding. Its the airmobs your gonna fight, they give better exp than landmobs and are often close to each other and less crowded. After lvl 50 fire and wood resist armour is the most important, since you will grind the poinous vipent types and the fire based foxies. With a good fire resist armour i could grind lvl 54 flying fire mobs at lvl 51 easy and kill pretty quick (even though there was a lvl difference) and the exp is better than doing quests.

Still do your quest, but that is also the only time a mage should bother grinding mele/ranged phys mobs. And try to party someone, kiting and soloing mele mobs takes ages.

i still remember at level 45 i could complete the quest that required you to kill the level 51 mobs easily.

and yes ..air mobs give a lot more exp than land ones
