Aaerdan enters the lodge, hand on pommel, peace knot secure.
A veteran of a different world where residents take to the air with ease, the brooch upon his breast bears the Realm Rune.
The rigours of travel between the worlds is telling, his movements are slow and hesitant, but he feels no regret.
He eyes the lodge patrons, then bows to all who would meet his gaze.
"Greetings and salutations, everyone. I am Aaerdan."

Cyadrin, Corsia, and Kestrin, who have been discussing their plan of action in the future at one of the tables, all turn to see the newcomer. Cyadrin sets aside the reference book he was using in review as the other two ladies turn to each other and silent words are discussed. Cyadrin takes the opportunity to be first to speak.
"We here are travelers as well, and after searching for a place which has the most valuable assets to its disposal, we have found this one. Us three report to the one known as "Krescen" for our results, as he has many operatives with which he has ran this explorative operation. Already we have gathered substancial information regarding this location," he explains as he indicates the reference book recently set down, "and as such if you require any data, do not hesitate in your request. However, at this moment, I have other things I should be attending to, yet I expect to see you around."
After that, he picks up his belongings and, after relaying his own dismissal to Corsia and Kestrin, sets off to his day of scouting. Kestrin, uncertain of the newcommer, simply twitches her tail as she inclinds a slight bow to her respect and returns to her chair as Cyadrin leaves. Corsia however, after watching Cyadrin leave and giving a quick review of the newcommer, gains immediate insight towards the newcommer's aspiration regarding flight as if it was an aura he radiated. Feeling that such would make the person feel more welcome, she extends her small wings and, while the room was reasonably small, glides over beside him.
"It's a pleasure to meet you sir, this place has been very accommodating for those who love to ride, fly, or swim, not just those who spend their time walking. Most of us are traveling around trying to gather as much information regarding this wondrous place in the week which is left before the real deal starts. But please, sit down and make yourself at home here, rest a bit while you get prepared for the things you will new be soon to experience. I look forward to seeing you as we make progress here in the future. Anyways, my name is Corsia, and this here," she turns around wondering where Kestrin was, and sees her gathered in the corner quietly. She returns quickly to drag Kestrin from the shadows before continuing, "is Kestrin. We are both glad for this chance to meet you." Kestrin just bows again and nervously stays silent, even past Corsia's sigh of disappointment. "Since Cyadrin has gone to continue his current endevours, we could try to assist you in his absence."

Aaerdan bows somewhat stiffly to the winged one, and mutters something intelligible under his breath.
"My apologies, milady," he manages. "The journey has left me ... winded."
He procures a vial from somewhere and imbibes its contents.
"I shall be with you shortly," he says somewhat apologetically.

At the same time, many miles away, a young man is sitting in front of his computer wishing he too could be there to welcome the traveler." If just the download would speed up a bit." he thinks for himself. He then remembers that he posess the ancient skill of writing, he starts moving his hands on a strange device with many little buttons on it, and the message takes form: Welcome o' mighty traveler to the land of dreams. Ive heard many great tales about you from the distant shores of Roika Mainland, ill hope I can get to know you better as you wander around this place. I am Zunday, the talkative traveler from the cold lands of Sweden. I will soon be in the vicinity and would be honored to meet you. "That will do." Zunday thinks as he presses the "Send" button.

"Well met, traveller!" the tavern keeper hails. "It seems you have a message," he declares, handing Aaerdan a scroll. "The neighbourhood messenger just dropped it off."
Aaerdan thanks the portly fellow and excuses himself to both the tavern keeper and the winged one.
It was a message from one Zunday, who claims to have heard of Aaerdan, thought the name is unfamiliar.
"A talkative traveller from the cold lands of Sweden," he reads. "Who would it be?"

<.< People may or may not be able to tell, but I have an extensive role playing background behind me of more then just a few years. I used to be one of the administrators of a forum where my role was to be head of the role playing section. A few of my projects were none too small, and were cause of a commotion for the forum, as well as the epic of its activity.
However, I came here from Wikipedia, and not from Flyff. Many others came to this place because of the Wiki entry someone had made earlier on the PWO Page. Since then, I've been watching over that page as one of the editors.

Matari was, as usual, sitting in her chair in front of the fireplace with a mug in her hand. She stared at the glowing flames, seeming entranced by them as the rest of the lodge was bussing with activity. She seemed as though she was the only one there not concerned with getting somewhere too fast. Then the doorbell rang It seems we have another person who wishes to stay here. She thought to herself while takign a sip from the mug. There was a large commotion as everyone else went up to greet the newcomer, Matari on the other hand, simply sat there, keeping to herself. Her ears listened in as everyone introduced themselves, Tor being first of course, but as usual she gave the act no rush, no need to attend to something she knew little about. It took a few moments before the group was ready to disperse, their lives beginning the usual routine activity of what it was that they did every day. The newcomer came close to Matari, sitting in the chair near her. She turned her chair to face him.
"Welcome." She said with a sincere smile.

"Is this taken?" he asks the lady seated near the fireplace, gesturing at the chair.
She does not respond right away, but she does turn to face him. For a moment their eyes meet, and Aaerdan imagines that he can see a hidden strength in those eyes.
"Welcome," she says finally, with a smile.

Matari returns her gaze to the fireplace. It was a strange way that she calmed down, not many people would understand why it soothed her to look into fire, nor did she even know. "Terribly sorry for not getting up to greet you, I figured everyone else would be doing that." She took a sip of from her mug. "That being said, I figured the best way to stand out would be to not do what everyone else was." She turned back at him. "New acquaintances are the best, their just filled with so much potential wouldn't you say?"

In the past, it was always quiet an developed and original style, with a bit of foundation towards what you would have known. This change should be noted since, as per one example of a RP which I ran, it is not easy to use normal methods to run an RP with over 30 players scattered around it. Since then they have stopped though, and I have moved on. >.>

The only pen and paper roleplaying game I played was "Vampire" with some friends. That's where I met a guy with a sexy Russian accent but turned out there was no real Russian anywhere in his blood :( He loved me so he didn't kill me off in the game. But I killed off his friend to stay in the game with him. Am I bad or what?
I really enjoyed playing the game I didn't think I would. It was my first time playing a pen and paper rpg. If I had the right crowd, I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

That would be White Wolf's Vampire: The Masquerade, in their World of Darkness setting. I was a Brujah :D
I used to play the trading card game version (first known as Jihad, then re-named Vampire ... this was even before 9/11).
Anyway, I did play Mage: The Ascension (Order of Hermes ... with Ars Magica, it was House Tremere ... yes, I know they became vampires in Vampire: The Masquerade!), which also by White Wolf, and set in the same game world. Some of my friends played Werewolf: The Apocaplypse, but I wasn't too keen on playing lycantropes, so....

Right-o. The closest thing I have tried akin to what you mentioned was a game based on Rurouni Kenshin ... it had no game system per se, so it was all role-playing. It was fun while it lasted.

Nope, quite unlike that either. Rules and layout were fairly strict and the whole thing had to be guided by myself. That means I was literally in over a dozen places at once. >.>
It also had a complex system and pre-defined options for players to pick from, which dynamically grew beyond documentations. It also had a centralized story which grew around multiple simultaneous segments. (Almost said seGments, due to PWO's censoring >.>)

I'll have to take your word for it ... I jumped from pen-and-paper RPGs to trading card games and CRPGs, and then a long break before delving into online games. I've always wondered how text-based role-playing is conducted - aside from the one I played, I mean.
So you have a combat system and all that? What do you utilise for the random element?

Combat randomization element was always referred to as the SSF check. "Style/Strategy/Fortune"
Style: Depending on presentation of your actions, you can get an automatic bonus simply subjectively based on it's presentation.
Strategy: Another subjective category, this one depicts how logically sound your action is.
Fortune: The true randomization element, which is simply a percentage check modified by the other results.
<.< The results are better in action then in details, and require skill to properly employ and not corrupt. If you want another opinion, ask Arista.
