Recent Down Time and Some Updates

...Ekkkk! Not sure what happened there. The mysql error reported that, it had too many connections. Which had to be bogus or something. Maybe it was getting raped by google bots =P. It's fixed now.

I'll be rolling out some updates in the next few days also for the site and the forum. The forum will be backed up and upgraded to the latest release of phpbb which is version RC7. Hopefully everything runs smoothly after that until the next update. This update will probably happen this week. Not sure when, but i'll tell you guys.

To get this button, you just have to post 500 times =D. It's just a little title/rank I'm testing out. Hopefully it turns out good and intersesting. Sorry for the downtime again :D

Well, it IS, I mean think about it. All you have to do is get your post count to 500, well that's not hard, it's just time consuming. Basically what Nav is saying is that you can be a "Valued Contributor" without actually contributing anything. Just asking questions and whatnot.

Well, while I would not consider spamming as "valued contribution" - note that this is my opinion only, and does not reflect that of the 1Perfect World team - I do see it as a means of keeping a forum lively.

Thus, I would agree with perhap changing the label to something other than "Valued Contributor" ... to something that reflects the high post-count member's presence in the community.

It wouldn't be fair to label everyone with a high post-count as a spammer; that's what I think, anyway.

I'd propose something to acknowledge a member's obvious presence in the community, without having to label him/her this or that.

My proposal for a tag comes later, if Tor asks for it :D

Did google bots atk the forum or something? Awww...so you guys don't like ValuedContributer eh. Too "pimp" eh? =P If you guys got more rank Suggestions I can place them up if they are good.

Ranks work with post counts. So you can do something like

Rank 1 = 10 posts
Rank 2 = 50 Posts
Rank 3 = 100 posts

Etc Etc.

You could always copy the rank name system from PWO, you know, the ranks that change every 10 levels after 9. That would be perfect for a rank system. >.>

PHPBB3 does not have these forum ranks included. Its a very unique forum software that is still in BETA.

I feel valued contributor should be for donators and such, not people who have 500 posts. Premium or Elite member would be a much better rank to have in my opinion.

EDIT: Done a little bit of designing, and come up with these. Use them if you want. :P

Do you mean updating to new forum software? This is already the latest version of PHPBB. Its still in beta. o.O

I mean the latest release of phpbb. It's on RC7 right now. I been waiting on some mods to get updated. This site only uses one or two mods I think. There are some really cool promising looking mods that some fans got out. Like the blogging one, which i'm really interested in.
