I really do wonder where you saw this.

I hope it's not some post from last month, back when we thought we would shut the servers down for a week to get some rest and then re-open the same server for people to play on.

As for lag, keep in mind that the steps we are taking are to give you the best possible play experience we can manage. The vagaries of the internet virtually ensure that we cannot guarantee a lag free experience for 100% of you. But we do try to get that percentile as high as possible!

The good news is that this means we will be having a highly reduced amount of lag. The bad news is that we will be waiting longer.

Since they are using this time to improve translations too, I'm happy regarding that. Just don't like the wait time. >.x

I knew this would happen- all great games have delays. Hopefully, the extra time we have to wait will be made-up for once the game is released. I'm sure the results will be fantastic!

The lag was pretty bad, and I think they took it to heart. Hopefully the change has a strong enough effect for the time loss.

The lag was horrendous. Like i'd klick a skill and it would take like 10 seconds to cast. I clicked flying and it took a while to jump into the air and such.

I'm glad it'll be out in a while because I'll be in France for the next two weeks. ^.^

Isn't tmnet the only viable isp in malaysia atm? And doesn't it have really crappy service? I wonder just how much they can reduce the lag while still running with tmnet n.n

In all honesty though, I didn't really experience the horrible lag many other people reported. Delays between skill presses and executions were usually less than a second, if even, and you could always use combo skills to get around the command lag.

19th Oct update:
As has been announced by Devil in this thread: http://forum.perfectworld.com.my/viewtopic.php?t=2206 the Perfect World Open Beta has been delayed due to the move of the servers to a new IDC in order to provide a better gaming service to you our beloved players. There is still no official date for the Open Beta. As it is already the weekend, check back for updates on 24th. (This is not the OB date, merely the date for the next update, which may just be telling you what you already know.)

In other words, they don't expect to know the official date until Oct 24th (which is not to say that is when Open Beta starts either). Expect no news until then.

You who had characters in the closed beta, will your characters still exist on the same level on the opened beta?
Will I be able to play on the same characters on the next version that comes after the opened beta or will I have to start over??

Yes those characters from Closed Beta will be no longer there. It was more of a test than anything else, to see how well PW would do. After Open beta, I can't say for sure, but the likelyhood of another character wipe is extremely small, if any at all.

They announced that they have no plans for future wipes after OB, and in the event of major disasters, they take constant backups to avoid total data loss.

I got into the Closed Beta very late, and found their forums even later.

I sent in my registration request, but I'm still in limbo waiting for approval.
Since you need to be fully registered to see the forums, I can't see the announcements yet.

24th Oct Update:
Thank you for your patience and continued support of the game. As Devil had posted, the game did not enter Open Beta on the 19th October because it was decided that the lag/disconnect issues faced by many international players needed to be addressed.

We expect the latest patch from China to arrive on Friday the 26th of October, it will be extensively tested on Monday the 29th of October and we hope to release the patch at the end of that day IF no major bugs are found and the patch is determined to be stable. Our target is to begin Open Beta before the end of the month.

The 29th of October is NOT the release date.

The international server will be in English (as that's the most widely used language around the world apparently) but as we've already seen, it's down apparently until the end of the month. Due to the lagg issues everyone's having.......apparently.

We are quite seriously on the "Any day now". My largest concern is that they will release without fore-warning. Just go without any announced date, and one day just suddenly say "Alright, the official release is.. now, go!" >.>

Seriously... I've been checking every day. PW can get boring if you're not allowed to speak english- they ban you in the JP version for it- so there's no way for me to communicate (not to mention the fact that there's only about 35 english-speaking players in the ntire game). So basically- I'll be overjoyed if it comes out soon. Expect me on the Delphi server.

The 'major bug' that is preventing the release of the patch seems to be major indeed. Technical and management are in discussion with China and it has been proposed to send a member of the technical staff to China to assist with the issue. Naturally, as there would be costs involved, the decision to send staff over will be pending further appraisal of the problem.

For those checking every hour, it is recommended that you use this time to rest and relax. Checking back just once every few days probably would not hurt.

The Open Beta servers are not expected to open this week, and the odds of a launch next week are not great either. It will be done when it is done. Once the patch is completed and received, it will still have to go through testing on the local test server. After the patch is approved, it will be put on the patch server as well as uploaded to other locations. There will be a few days delay between receipt of the patch and the launch of Open Beta should the patch receive approval.

An announcement will be made on the main website once a confirmed date for the Open Beta has been determined.
