Just an FYI for new players starting out as priests. In a party fighting against land mobs, you can fly above your comrades and heal them without worrying about spawns nearby. This can also take some of the heat away from the tank, as mobs will peel away and look for you, then go back to the tank, giving him some respite. For ranged attackers, just fly up out of range, then come down a little to heal, and pull back up.
This ofcourse wont work against flying mobs.

Well, hey, if we're doing tips, let's go all out. =)
1. Whisht Spam is a great tool, particularly on FBs and especially against bosses. It's also a huge mana drain which can easily be overdone. Try to practice so you learn to space out your replacing your whishts to minimise the mana drain. Work up your pharmacy so you can use all the excellent mana tools available therein. At pharmacy level 2, Powder of Mass Vitality ups your mana regeneration rate to 50/second for 10 minutes (remember this rate is 25% during combat); at pharmacy 4 this increases to 100. At pharmacy 2, 3, & 4 there are progressively better elixirs to fill up your mana starting with Jade Kettle (heals 3000 mana over 30 seconds) and going to Bise Shock (9000 in 30 seconds). These are life savers when you're healing and you see the message "MP is running low!"
2. Pure Heart sucks. If you haven't already stopped using it, do so now. Thankfully it's pretty cheap on sp, since almost all of us waste some on it. =P
3. Sapience Pour is your friend. For those times when Whisht Spam just isn't cutting it, throw in one of these in your down time. If things get really desperate, use River of Rejuvenation.
4. When working with another priest, make sure you coordinate your healing. The priest with the strongest INT should be doing Whisht most of the time, at the very least on the main tank against bosses. The secondary priest should spend his or her time healing other people who are taking damage (especially those pesky WRs/WBs with berserk axes who constantly need to be topped off), or against certain bosses (Aquascout, Binlu, etc.) watching for the painful debuffs and purifying them immediately. Doing this while spamming Whisht is tricky for a single priest, so if two are available this is a great way to divide the healing.
5. Learn to position yourself and watch things out of the corner of your eye. Aggroing mobs while you're trying to heal for a boss is a nightmare that often leads to a party wipe. Learning what you can and can't do outside of AoE range can be the difference between effective healing and an angry tank with a sore hiero. Don't forget boss AoEs will also often skill interrupt you! Don't be afraid to boss your team around, telling them how to position themselves relative to you. Quite often their position isn't nearly as important as yours, and where they stand can mean the difference between them living through the encounter or not. Your job is to prevent a party wipe, and although they're going to yell at you, it's better to have an uncooperative party member die than try to accomodate them if it reduces your chances of successfully living through the mission or keeping the tank alive. And for Pete's sake, don't res people if you've got your hands full healing the tank. It's most likely their fault they died anyway. =P
We should keep this thread going. It's got good potential. =)
