I'm a relatively new player. I have a lvl 16 Archer now but I want to restart to get things just the way I like them. So, does anyone have any tips for me?
I especially need to know which skills are worth upgrading.
Thanks! :)
EDIT: I'll be doing A LOT of PvP. Like srsly...A LOT. And I hear that damage is reduced in PvP (Because there is a damage reduction or something), so I'm thinking adding some CON would be good. so maybe 1 STR, 4 AGI on even lvls and 1 STR, 3 AGI, 1 CON on odds?

This is a link to one of the best archer guides of all time, written by OpelxFrost. It should help you out a lot.

The read through the linked guide, not the best one if its a PvP build.
Out of the 3 build, i strongly recommend the hybrid build. Reason is simply because damage is reduced by 75% when in PvP hence having a pure dmg build isn't really that wise. Considering the 2nd fact that most archer skill does fix damage + weapon damage and not percentage of weapon damage, this thus further reduce the advantage for having a pure dmg build. And for the 3rd factor, magic has 100% hit rate and archer that went demon path has 2 skill with 100% hit rate, making it more important to have hp pool
1st of all, one can have 495 stat points at lv100. When adding DEX for bow, we expect the best one, the military, it will be 300 DEX. -5 DEX points as starter, you need 295 pure DEX for that. Now for headgears, the highest you need will be 117 if using the helmet suitable for archers until latest patch(refer my thread at archer sticky post), -5 you need 112 STR for that. That would mean a fixed 412 stat point for all those stuff. By adding 495-412 = 83 points to CON, you gain around 1.8k HP. Whereas when you add 83 DEX, the formula is +each DEX : 1% x (range weapon+ring+level). The formula is a bit off course but the value doesn't run away that much. If i am not mistaken, you get 2k damage alone from that 83 DEX if you are using a military. Furthermore, you gain 4% critical rate from those stats as well.
Now in the 1st place, archers are not born tankers. I really wondered why those people that wanted to tank chose archers. This class, like what explained in the site, is always a HP loser. Their HP even lose out to a pure INT EP. I have not compared it to the MGs, but i think they either win a bit, or they lose out as well. So why waste the stat points at HP, when your goal is not there?
In PvP, all HP are just FAKE when you have the hieros or charms. I will not die as long as i manage to survive 10 seconds for another refresh. And 10 seconds, is just too easy to achieve. Alongside with HP regeneration pots, instant HP restore pots, skills, archers always have that many options to survive other classes. So to win a PvP, a 1 hit KO, or at least enough damage to kill your opponents in 10 seconds after the refresh is vital. Which is why adding DEX is that important to PvP archers. Even with that reduction of 75%, you still have basic 400 physical damage per hit advantage to your opponents. From many past archer players' experience, no matter how many HP you have(1 of these players actually made up a 17k HP archer) you still die when theres gangbang, or when you cannot kill your opponent fast enough. And archers rely on high damage to survive, to kill their opponents in seconds before they kill you. If you still cannot understand why, i will explain further in detail later. All i must say is in the long run hybrid build will not be as good as it has been given the credits, but STR - DEX build mentioned in that guide.
Next, the equipment guide given by the author is quite outdated. Some better equipments that come by cheaper can be obtained already as patch goes. Now if you are rich enough, and really want to be a deadly PvPer, 3 weapons are needed to be on your bag constantly, and you have to practice in changing them fast. That would be the HH lv100 dual gold crossbow, the crescent valley gold bow and the military dual gold bow. Main fighting bow should be the military, the HH crossbows are basically used against MGs that love to run(range and attack interval increase for this crossbow) or against melee types that got to get near you, whereas the crescent valley is used to debuff your opponents before you deal him unfiltered damage.
For weapon choice, i used the quest bow for the first 20 levels, and change weapon to whatever range weapon i can get from from level 22 onwards. I only used slingshot up to lvl 58 (which is shown under the stats chart below) since the dps advantage for lvl 68 slingshot when compared to lvl 65 xbow doesn't outweights the penalty of 2 metre shooting range it has. This apply for slingshot beyond that level too.
This guy obviously only consider the normal weapons. Slingshot, when using the 69fb ones, are a lot more better than lv70 HH weapons in terms of attack speed and damage. Furthermore its easier to hunt rather than wasting resources crafting the same lv65 crossbow again and again hoping for a 3 star or a stat that most of the time just wouldn't match a good one. Rather than wasting resources, why don't you use a molded weapon good enough to be used until lv80?Cheaper, better, this guide just missed that.
For boots, try to get those that add movement speed.
The only flaw in this guide when he picks the armor, why movement speed? More than 90% of archer users that love PvP knew that in terms of movement speed no matter how many MS you get from your EQ, you will always lose to WR, WB, and WF at ground. They can just get right in front of you before you even notice. And what happen next is a series of stun, armor reduction, ultimates, and a dead archer on the ground. Different story when you are flying though. Most of the time archers won a PvP in the sky, not the ground. Sky offers another dimension for archers to escape easier and attack easier, especially against melee players.
Aimed Shot - This skill is worthless if you are going to level it. The damage it increase is lower than another skilled acquired at later stage: fatal shot which can be cast even faster than aimed shot. Though at earlier level, it is still useful, but if you had left it at level 1, it will be useful for pvp/pve later on. After casting it, press esc or cast the skill again. This will cancel your skill and cause an attack at a speed of 0.6 seconds (archer normal atk spd is around 1.6 secs). By using an attack like this, player can gain 10 combat points which is important for PvP and sometimes PvE. If u had pumped aimed shot to a higher lvl, the mana cost wouldnt be cheap. at level 1 all this bonus would be granted to you onli at a cost of 10 mana.
This only applies to diablotic/demonic archers, but even now demonic archers noticed its use. I have no idea how this author came to think that this skill is lamer than fatal arrow when its the other way round. A diablotic archer got shorter cast time when using this skill, and the best thing is it deals 300% damage, obviously more than fatal arrow. Even better for a sublime archer, this skill deals 500% damage, thus making it the highest damage skill available to archer, not fatal arrow. However the fast cast skill is applicable, but not the way he did. Most of the time fast cast aimed shot is done when you notice your prey is beginning to run away and just need the last hit to kill him. And its not cancelling the skill by pressing escape, but recasting it, pressing the skill twice in less than a second interval. Then, this skill cast for 3.2 seconds, release for 0.6 seconds, only 0.2 seconds slower than fatal shot, but more damage dealt. When diablotic, it offers 2.7 second cast time only. Its a must learn skill for both cultivation. The author simply missed out the importance of this skill.
Fainting Arrow - The only skill that has stun effect for archer (Unless u chose god then binding arrow will have chance to stun it's target). Chance to stun is 45% at level 1 and 90% when max. Total casting time is 2.1 seconds and stun effect is 3 second, therefore not recommended for PvE usage. (quite useful for PvP). Max it after hitting lvl 89 when you have excess gold/skill points.
Unfortunately, its the diablotic path that allows binding arrow to stun for 3 seconds. Sublime path allows binding arrow to enseal the target. Both useful between PvP and PvE, max it after lv89 and not continously is just plain stupid. This is virtually the 1st skill you cast when lvling or pvp.
Fatal Arrow - One of the highest damage skill available to Archer. Total cast time required is 3.6 seconds but adds 5k dmg and 100% physical attack. Good skill for opening shot when leveling. When combo with Fainting arrow in PvP, it is 2 hit ko on most Priest/Fa Shi or Archer (if both skill hit and they are agi Archer). Recommended to pump whenever possible.
I totally doubt the author's claim that he refered to chinese archer guide when it gets here. Fatal Arrow, on a survey done by PWI-CN and PW-MY servers, are the least favourite skill to be maxed by archers all time round. Only sublime archers will max this because it offers full range damage, neglecting fragility distance when used. Besides, why use a skill that when maxed have lower damage, longer cooldown time than aimed shot? It takes 3 seconds to cast as well, so its pretty pointless to learn this one. I got this to lv1 only even now that i am sublime.
Arrow Array - The highest dmg AOE skill available to Archer it has a channeling effect. This skill is similar to an AOE skill fa shi has. This skill uses up 200 combat points and deals 4.5k dmg and 200% physical attack when max. From the chinese guide, they recommend leaving this skill at level 1 for leveling purposes and max it for PvP. I haven't tried this skill myself.
This is true before the crescent valley is released, but its not useful when the Hero Siege like FB is released. lv10, useful in both PvP(TW, use against crystals to protect your WBs) and PvE as well. Mind though, this is a continous skill until you cancel it or your mana gets drained up. When PvP, only being used in TW, sublime skills are a lifesaver, it offers you damage resistance up to 33%.
Overall, its a basic guide, but not a good guide for PvP.
