At the beginning I only ever used the Spring Gush to make enemies bleed while i whacked them with my weapon. When they would stop bleeding, i would use it again. This only really works when fighting physical monsters. The other skills take some SP you will need later on for AOE skills.

Also, read the descriptions of the skills you can get. If you are going to be using a sword throughout the whole game, make sure to only get sword skills and not spending SP and gold on a skill that requires a spear or something.

What is really important from the beginning is to get the skills that can Stun your opponent. These will be very important for fighting non-physical monsters, bosses that aren't immune to stun, and PK.

Later on in the game, there will be skills that can harm more than one monster. Some will say only a portion in front of you will get damaged. Raise those skills to Level 1. When you are able to get skills that affect all around you (not just in front), level those up as much as you can. They do a lot of damage and are especially helpful in FBs and AOE parties which you will most likely need for extra experience in the future.

Recommended weapon: Dual Axe

lol no wonder i was confused. mage uses dual axe will b real unique xDD

Mages can use dual axes(level 90 lionheart) if they are strength based heavy armor type.

I would suggest you learn ground and fire for PK, water for leveling. In the end you will still have to learn all 3 types for best result.
