[Guide]How to Install the Game and English Patch

A simple guide which will teach you how to play this game while you wait for it to be released into your language. This guide is only for a fresh, clean installation!!!! The English patcher was created from a fansite. It's not 100% accurate but it's the best that there is out there until they release the actual version. Thx to the person or group that did it.

Step 1
Go to the http://www.world2.com.my/downloads-client.asp download page. Download all the files. I downloaded from filefront because there seemed to be a problem with the others. Bit torrent was way to slow.

Step 1.5
Download the English Patch so you can actually play the game. You can get it here.

Note the english patch is not official. It's just from a very hard working person or persons. Credit goes to them for making it.

Step 2
Register an account at http://cubizone.com/global/register2.asp

Step 3
Double the installer. Click on Agree

Step 4
Pick a directory. Something like c:\Program Files\Perfect World Make sure you change it, don't leave it in chinese. Or you're gonna probably run into some serious language issues when trying to open the game.

Step 5
The game starts installing.

Step 6
It's gonna ask you to verify the files. This takes a very long time. Some people say it's a waste of time.

Step 7
The installation is complete. The first check mark ask u to create desktop shortcut icon. The 2nd box ask you to start the game. Don't Start it yet. The third option ask you to Verify the files.

Step 8
Unzip the English Patch If it hasn't already been.

Open "Before Updating Client" folder...Drag and Drop the contents into Perfect World Game folder.


Step 9
Run patcher.exe file in your Perfectworld Program folder. After the program starts it gonna ask you to pick a patch server.

The patcher will begin. It's gonna take some time. Familiarize yourself with the game settings.

Step 10
Open "After Updating Client" ...Drag and Drop the contents into Perfect World Game folder.

You should wait for the malaysian version because 2.16 GB is a lot. Plus its not worth it since you will be throwing it away to download the english version. The patch was not done by the real company so it is missing a lot of things and the skills are a bit glitched.

Yeah the chinese version is hard to follow. Bit of broken english can make a quest near impossible to complete! Wish I had your guid when I done it tor, took me a day or 2 to get all the info!

Just put in 7 random numbers but make sure you write it down. Its just for security.

I thought they used the SS number just so they can regulate your playing time and that if you hack, they'll send some kind of team to arrest you :shock:

Still keep it, this version does two things:

*A fair bit of the client is still translated, such as skill descriptions and many tool tips. A lot got converted, but you still have things to work with.
*It's a start point for when the next patch is released.

ok, I need some serious help T.T

I've tried using multipul downloading programs that are supposed to download Perfect World really fast, but they just aren't working D: I've spent the past 2 days trying everything I could to download any version of the game. I dont know how everyone else is downloading it, but its being really slow, now matter what. 5 hours or so of downloading has gotten me to 22%. My KB/s is down around 12 sometimes, the max seems to be 40-47. Anyone have any advice? Please D:

Ughh, I gave in and downloaded MY-CN. I didn't know the CB would come out today either. Ah well, playing right now, all in Chinese.

That's okay, I can help you out in the Chinese version, if you are on when I am. You can also make your character and get it to save it, that way the same customizations can be used for your characters on the MY-EN server.

Is it necessary to install the english patch? I tried to install the game without it, and the icon on my desktop doesnt work (it says missing shortcut) and its got chinese titles under it. x_x or did I do something wrong? On step 7 I didn't check the thrid box because I was told it wasn't necessary to verify the files. Did that mess it up?

EDIT: nvm, I had my comp fix that automatically, but now when I load the game, I can't hit the START button next to REGISTER in the window where you can change system preferences, patch, ect. Any ideas as to why the START button isnt working?

This patch is quite out dated and will cause problems. You can't use it anymore.

Weird. O.o My guess is that your computer isn't responding well to the character sets though, so the game is failing. If that is not it, then you need to figure out what the in-game errors are. >.x By not using any english, you should know it yourself at least I'm guessing. <.<

D; nuuuu! 24 hours and 8 minutes of downloading all gone to waste!

I can't read chinese so I have no idea what anything says. If this were japanese I'd be fine, but not chinese x_x

Perhaps I'd be better off just installing the english patch thinger. at least I'd have a vague idea of whats going on.

I actually got it to where if I hit the 3rd button on the left side, and then hit the second button in the little window that pops up, I can at least hit the 1st button, or the START button. After I hit it, nothing happens. If i repeat that process, and hit the 1st button in the window that pops up, it seems like its trying to load the game, but after a minute or two another window pops up with two options: the first seems to retry loading the game or something when I hit it. The other seems to cancel x_x

So I guess I've reached a dead end. *stops whining and starts downloading english version in defeat*
