I mean, on flyff for example spells were quite fast and couldn't be interrupted by being hit while in games like RO they have long cast times and being hit cancels them out.

Not sure but if you check out the wiki Nav posted: http://wiki.perfectworld.cc/ you'll get quite bit of info about the skills and stuff. I haven't played RO before but from the sound of it, I hope it won't be like that where you get interrupted. Most games I've played doesn't do that anyway.. so I hope not!
here's what it looks like for male and female char default. You can customize it.

I just watched this really good trailer, and when the mage casts a spell, it looks like it has quite along casting time... It's looking like the RO system. D:

Ah well, the plus side will probably be that the spells more or less destroy things as soon as they hit, at least that's what things are normally like in games with that kind of system D:
Usually long cast = massive destruction.
Usually Sno = magic class = possible long cast = possible massive destruction xD
Hopefully the classes will balance out well though ^^

high lvl mages are very hard to find, they have extremely low defense, and casting is way too slow, and they get almost no dungeon invites. i hear that if you're willing to spend a lot of money on tweaking the build and on buying spell-speeding armor/weapons, you could be amazing though.
Hmm. Maybe I should start off with a less expensive character first and then concentrate on making a Mage with good equips and all.

Having played already, that quote is starting to lack it's edge. Quite seriously, the only two classes that are dominant for invitations to anything appear to be summoner and healer. As such, it's easier to say who does get invitations and stands out more then others do.
However, Mages stand to power quite well. They do have slower cast times, but the only way to interrupt their magic is with a skill which causes interruption. An interesting note is the few supportive skills they have, such as Heal and that Ice Elemental Attack Buff (which are useful considering they end up needing a party anyways). They are mostly the wide-spanning Nuclear AoEs like usual, but with a few tricks to their value. Personally, I've been having fun with the game's macro system for mass casting a chain of spells.
The game uses a system of elementals, and I think I missed that lesson. >.x I need to know which 3 elements I'm effective against, since most monsters have an element. There is 5 elementals, but mages only get 3 of them (fire, ice, and earth). The other two (wind and poison) are given to the other magic classes. (I know, they gave other names, but look at the spells and we all know the truth. "Metal" Element can't include things like Tornado and Lightning Storm, and why are we calling "Wood" for Poison Shot and Poison Storm. Alright, I admit, I can live with "Wood", it's the "Metal" that bugs me.) If anyone has this chart (Ring) on record, it would be of value. >.x I know it was in the tutorial, but I can't find it anymore.

This topic is very old, I already posted the results somewhere else. >.x
I had the same solution that Areal did. >.>
As well, once again, the elemental icons will be changed to english names, so that won't help anyone. The tool tip does though.
